What to Look For in a Double Travel Buggy
A compact side-by-side with a small footprint (for use in public transport and narrow doors). Add carrycots or seats (with adaptors), to make the frame more sturdy for children up to 50 lbs.
Budget double with back and front suspension for uneven surfaces. Large storage basket, padded handlebars, and large storage basket.
Size
Double pushchairs tend to be more spacious than single ones, particularly when they are side-by-side buggies like the Kolcraft Geo 3 or UPPAbaby. This extra width allows them to carry heavier children without straining their chassis. Other features make them stand out: large pop-out canopy with SPF 50 protection and peekaboo windows with swivel lock front wheels to assist in navigating tight spaces such as shopping aisles as well as a cup holder that can be used by one parent and a clever fold mechanism that operates with one hand. The 10-inch wheels aren't designed for rough terrain but can handle city streets and theme park rides well.
These lightweight side-by-side buggies come with surprisingly low prices.

Weight
The lighter a double-buggy is the easier it will be to lift and manoeuvre. The Joie Evalite Duo, which is the most lightweight of our Lab tests, is an excellent option if weight is an issue. It's got plenty of features including the large pop-out canopy, SPF50 and peekaboo window and a quick-release folding system that can be folded flat in seconds, four-wheel suspension for rough terrain and a swivel wheel at the front that makes it easy to maneuver tight shops and supermarket aisles. It's also extremely affordable at more than PS1,000. It can also carry twins or a baby and toddler with the purchase of an additional'sidepack'.
Flexibility
A double buggy is a great option for parents with twins or even a baby and toddler. Narrow tandem buggies are great to fit into tight spaces, while side-byside models will keep your children well-cared for and allow you to keep your eyes on them as you travel around the supermarket or park. Many also have a wide variety of seat configurations, so you can adapt them as your children develop, and some have the option to add a ride-on board or car seat.
The Joie Evalite Duo is a great example. It can be used to support two seats or a car-seat. The adaptors make it easy to convert from a single seat to a double in merely seconds. It comes with a large pop-out canopy sunshade that has UPF 50+ protection, adjustable legrests and windows that peek out in both seats. A standing fold is simple to do and quick.
The iCandy Peach tri-fold buggy is another alternative. They are perfect to navigate narrow doors and aisles. They also can easily accommodate twins or a child and a large kid with the addition of UPPAbaby’s ‘PiggyBack’ board (which is available separately). They provide a spacious basket and come with all the accessories you could need, including liners and rain covers.
Tandem buggies are generally made with your kids sitting together. This makes them easier and more stable to push on uneven surfaces, but they can be a challenge to maneuver up and over kerbs. They typically have a bigger footprint than a single-seater pushchair, and may be a bit longer to pass through doorways.
Comfort
One of the most comfortable lightweight doubles we've tested the buggy has elevated stadium-style seating for both seats so that your children can have a great view. It also has nice-sized UPF 50+ canopy with windows that peek out; a padded toddler seat, as well as an add-on RumbleSeat with built-in adjustable leg and foot rests; and a single-parent cup holder. The seats recline independently by pressing a lever under each seat. double pushchair with car seat pushchairsandprams love how the straps can be fastened or unfastened in one hand. The handle is easy to twist making it easy to fold. It also stores by putting the backrest up for easy access.
With 30 different configurations (it'll accommodate twins as well as a toddler and baby or three kids with the addition of a 'PiggyBack' board) this is a fantastic option for families who are looking to expand with their child. The large basket and soft suspension makes it suitable for kerbs, as in the city. It's also reasonably priced. BabyGearLab recommends it to children between the ages of 6 and 6.
